COMMUNITY ALERT: PSNI detectives have launched an appeal for information after a gang of armed men forced their way into a property and terrorised a young family. 
The ghastly incident took place in the Galliagh area of the city last night.
Chief inspector Tony Callaghan told Derry Daily, “Just before 11 pm five masked men, one of whom is believed have been armed with a gun, forced their way into a house at Bloomfield Park.
“After asking for an individual and checking the property they left.
“A woman in her 20s and a four-year-old child who were in the property at the time were thankfully uninjured.
Callaghan added, “I appeal anyone who was in that area at the time and saw anyone or any vehicles acting suspiciously to contact police at Strand Road on the non-emergency number 101.
“Alternatively, information can be given to the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
