SUSPENDED FIRSTSOURCE WORKERS CLEARED – ALLOWED TO RETURN TO WORK

firstsourceA NUMBER of Firstsource workers who had been suspended from their jobs have been allowed to return to work.

It’s understood they have been cleared of any wrongdoing.

The decision of the company is being welcomed by Derry workers.

The Independent Workers Union expressed hope that all suspended staff will now be allowed to continue with their jobs.

Client company SKY TV had a role in the internal investigation at Firstsource when several practices were questioned.

However staff had insisted they had been following the guidelines given to them.

Unions had provided free legal advice to many of those affected by an internal investigation which saw approximately 100 staff suspended.

Union sources say they now hope to represent workers on a permanent basis going forward to help change what they believe are ‘draconian’ practices inside Firstsource including timed toilet breaks.

A company insider told Derry Daily today: “The media scrutiny and the work and the involvement of the unions has been an enormous help to staff.

“It appears at this stage at least that common sense is prevailing. Hopefully all staff will be allowed back and allowed to move on.

“Working conditions can be addressed down the line; but we need as many people as possible to join a union.”
