A YOUNG Derry woman and her partner have been left penniless for Christmas and now fear eviction after her purse was stolen in the toilets of the Richmond Centre.
The incident comes just days after a PSNI warning that thieves were operating in the city.
The victim, aged 20, lost everything she had in the robbery which is being investigated by police.
Her older sister made an emotional plea to those behind the theft to return the belongings.
“The purse contained all her bank cards, I.D’s, bank details and all of her money for over the Christmas period,” she said.
“It also had her rent and grocery money in it, now she’s in fear of being put on the street as she can’t afford to replace it.
“She has nothing in the house to see her and her partner over Christmas…. they now have no heating or anything in for Christmas because of this.”
The theft took place at 5pm on Wednesday.
Said the sister: “They are only a young couple starting out so any information or help would be greatly appreciated.”
She has asked anyone with information to email us here at [email protected].
