Van torcedNo one was injured in a shooting incident in the Brandywell area of Derry in the early hours of this morning.

A car parked in Southend Park was hit by three gunshots at around 4.00am.

No one is believed to have been in the vehicle at the time.

As police removed the car for further investigation they came under attack from a number of youths throwing bottles.

No officers were injured in the incident.

A PSNI spokesperson asked anyone with any information to contact CID in Strand Road Police Station on the new non-emergency number 101.

Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they could contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
