COMMUNITY ALERT: CAR THIEVES STRIKE IN GARDEN CITY

Householders in the Culmore Road/Garden City area in Derry have been urged to be on the alert for car thieves.Car-thief-attempts-break--007

The call comes after a car was stolen from outside a local home just after 4.00am on Friday morning last and later found burnt out in another part of the city.

Sinn Fein MLA Maeve McLaughlin appealed to all residents in the locality to be on their alert.

Urging householders to take precautions, she said: “If this appeal helps prevent someone else losing their car then it is worth it.

“The owner is now left with the cost of having to replace the car which no one can afford, particularly just a month before Christmas. No one has the right to destroy other people’s property and the loss of this car will inflict untold hardship on this family.”

She concluded: “I would appeal to anyone with even the slightest piece of information in regards to those behind this criminal act to bring it forward to the police straight away.”
