Police in Derry are appealing for information after a 38-year-old man was taken to hospital following a serious assault in the Glenvale Park area of the city in the early hour of this morning.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment for facial injuries sustained in the attack which took place at around 12.50am. His injuries are not thought to life-threatening.
Two men aged 40 and 42 have been arrested and are currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information to contact detectives at Strand Road on 0845 600 8000.
A PSNI spokesperson said if someone preferred to provide information without giving their details they could contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
