The North’s only dedicated travel publication has entered the digital age with the launch of a free interactive App and multi-media edition that runs across all forms of computer, tablet and mobile device.

For 24 years, since the monthly newspaper first launched in 1990, the Northern Ireland Travel News (NITN) has been a veritable “travel bible” for readers, informing them of the latest news in the local travel industry and keeping them up to date with all the latest travel-related products and holiday destinations, both abroad and closer to home.

Now the company has invested heavily in technology to enable holidaymakers to read a copy of the publication where, when they want and how they want, with the introduction of a new App and online edition, which has been launched in association with award-winning travel insurance website Multitrip.com.

What’s more, multi-media readers will enjoy, from their PC, laptop, tablet or phone, an immersive interactive experience with a range of videos, virtual tours, booking sites, special offers and last minute deals available to them at their fingertips.

NITN director Jonathan Adair said that the circulation of the publication was set to increase by 500 per cent overnight and will complement the existing printed edition.

“In this day and age, where more people are reading their news on the move through their mobile devices and tablets, it is important to give your customers the choice to enjoy your product in whichever manner they wish,” said Mr Adair. “You really have to be all things to all people.

“Over the past 24 years, NI Travel News has firmly established itself as Northern Ireland’s quality travel and tourism newspaper, with more than 23,000 copies reaching the hands of the travelling public each month.

“Now with the launch of our multi-media App, we’re set to grow that readership massively. In fact, our partnership with Multitrip.com alone will see the online edition emailed directly to no fewer than an additional 115,000 holidaymakers on the company’s mailing list.

“However, the printed edition will remain as important as ever to us and we will continue to make it available to the travelling public at travel agents, airports, ferry terminals, hotels and newsagents across Northern Ireland,” he added.

Ciaran Mulligan of Multitrip.com said: “As Northern Ireland’s award-winning travel insurance provider, we are delighted to be the first sponsor of the Northern Ireland Travel News App.

“At Multitrip.com, we are always in search of new, innovative and fresh ways to bring our comprehensive and low cost travel insurance prices to the people of Northern Ireland and this partnership with Northern Ireland’s leading travel content provider is a perfect fit.”

The NI Travel News App will be available from iTunes, Google Play and Amazon Appstore, and can be used on the Kindle Fire, Nexus 7 and a wide range of android devices.
