SINN Féin’s Raymond McCartney blasted the SDLP manifesto as a wish list based on Alice in Wonderland economics.
The Foyle MLA said: “The SDLP manifesto is full of shallow promises which read like a wish list.
“Senior spokespersons have claimed that their promises are fully costed but in the absence of any detail this smacks of Alice in Wonderland economics.
“They have claimed time and again that £225 million spread over four years will magically pay for all of their uncosted and unfunded promises.
“They cannot even tell the electorate if they will be in government or in opposition.
“Speaking from experience let me be absolutely clear, £225 million is a drop in the public spending ocean and will deliver none of the SDLP’s naïve promises.
“Their manifesto is frankly a poor piece of fiction, lacking in any knowledge of budgetary processes and is a transparent attempt to buy votes with empty and undeliverable promises.
“The SDLP need to publish their ‘costings’ and come clean with the public.
“In the real world of politics, they have no ability or intention of delivering on their empty pledges.”
