The tourism and entertainment sector in Donegal received a major boost this evening with confirmation that McGrory’s of Culdaff is to reopen.

The famous Inishowen hotel and music venue closed in February after four generations of business.

However, a post on its social media accounts confirmed it is now under new ownership.

“The renowned Inishowen hotel and music venue has been taken over by local businessman Paddy Doherty, who hails from the Glackin Clan,” the statement read.

“Alongside his wife Orla, Paddy brings a deep-rooted love for Irish culture, traditional music, and the Irish language to everything they do.

“Paddy and Orla are passionate about preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Inishowen — not just here at home, but across Ireland and beyond.

“Under their stewardship, McGrory’s will continue to be a beacon for music, hospitality, and the unique spirit of this special place.”

There was widespread surprise and sadness from many commenters when the news of the closure was announced two months ago.

However, confirmation of its impending reopening is seen as a major shot in the arm for the area.
