Harkin: Support the March for Palestine

People Before Profit have backed the Irish Palestine Solidarity Campaign march for Palestine.

The march will take place on Saturday 18th January at 2pm, leaving from the railway station and making its way to the Guildhall.

PBP Councillor Shaun Harkin said: “It may be a new year but it’s the same old horror being visited upon the Palestinian people.

“UNICEF has reported that at least 74 children were killed in Gaza in the first week of 2025 alone.

“We are told that a ceasefire will start this Sunday, yet the Israeli war machine appears to be ramping up its genocidal campaign.

“The ceasefire comes, cannot be a full stop on Palestinian solidarity.

“It should mark a new chapter in the campaign to hold the United States, Britain, the European Union and the Israeli state accountable for their crimes.

“A ceasefire cannot be used to further increase illegal settlements and to expedite the colonisation of Palestinian lands.

“Our support for Palestine must remain steadfast.

“The struggle for justice and human rights cannot be paused or diminished by temporary political agreements.

“People Before Profit are proud to stand with the people of Palestine. We call on the people of Derry and the North West to join the march to show their unbreakable solidarity with Palestine.”
