Harkin: Plinth paint bombing just raises sectarian tensions

People Before Profit Cllr Shaun Harkin said has said that the paint bomb attack on Walker’s Plinth on Derry’s Walls serves no purpose other than to raise local tensions.

Said the Foyleside councillor: “Paint bombing the plinth on Derry Walls serves no purpose other than raising tensions.

“Playing into sectarian division won’t advance any kind of progressive agenda.

“It’s futile and counter to what people in the city want.

“The Good Friday Agreement institutionalised sectarian division, but the vast majority of people want our communities to be free of it.

“To build the movement for a 32-county socialist Ireland we must bring all people with us, not alienate and marginalise them.

“People Before Profit campaign on a class not creed basis.

“Uniting working class people is the way forward.”
