Members of both the Gardaí and PSNI were involved in a dramatic high-speed cross-border chase overnight.

Police in Donegal pursed a car after it failed to stop in Letterkenny.

They then followed the car at high speed towards the border area in Lifford and Strabane.

The car was hit by a Garda stinger, but continued across the border into Strabane where it eventually was intercepted by members of the Police.

Gardaí in Donegal took to social media to remind the public of their cross-border operations this weekend after the chase.

“A cross border roads Policing operation is taking place over the course of the Donegal International Rally weekend.

“We continue to work together with the PSNI to prevent serious injury & fatal road traffic collisions.

“Checkpoints and patrols are taking place on both sides of the border over the course of the weekend.

“We are very grateful for the assistance given by Police Derry City & Strabane this Rally weekend and always.”
