Police are investigating reports of two security alerts in Dungiven last night, Saturday, February 24.

The Forglen Road is currently closed at the junction of Ballyhanedin Road.

The Legavallon Road is also closed at the junction of Curragh Road.

Chief Inspector McIldowney said: “Cordons remain in place in the junction of Forglen Road and Ballyhanedin Road and in the Legavallon Road and Curragh Road areas this morning.

“Diversions are in place and the public is asked to avoid the areas at this time and seek an alternative route for their journey.

“As we continue with our enquiries, we’re urging the public to be vigilant and ask that you avoid the area.

“We’re appealing to anyone who sees anything suspicious not to touch it or pick it up, but to call us immediately on 999.

“We’d also ask anyone with any other information that could help with our investigation to call us on 101, quoting reference number 1210 of 24/02/23.”

You can also submit a report online using the non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/

Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at http://crimestoppers-uk.org/
