Police Derry City and Strabane say officers have been dealing with the collision overnight, with the Strand Road closed between Rock Road and Duncreggan Road and access to Sainsbury’s supermarket closed to the public.
Motorists are advised that road diversions are in place directing traffic around Duncreggan Road, Northland Road and Rock Road.
SDLP MLA Mark H Durkan said he is “hoping and praying for those involved”.
Police are appealing to anyone who has dash cam footage or witnessed anything to contact them on the 101 number.
