Two arrested over disturbance at Derry hotel

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of assault after a “disturbance” at a hotel in Derry.

A man and a woman, both aged in their 30s, were taken to the PACE custody suite at Strand Road for questioning.

Police say the incident happened shortly after 7 pm n Thursday at a Premier Inn on Crescent Link in the Sevenoaks area of the city.

Police sent at least five land rovers from its Tactical Support Group to the incident on Thursday evening.

DUP Foyle MLA Gary Middleton described it as a “concerning incident which thankfully has been brought under control”.

“My thoughts are with the staff and other hotel users who were affected,” he said.
