Remains found in search for missing Lee Johnston

POLICE have confirmed that the remains found in Co Derry this week were those of missing Lee Johnston.

Following the discovery of a body in Maghera by police searching for high risk missing person, a post mortem examination has concluded.

Superintendent Michael O’Loan, District Commander for Mid Ulster, said: “Police can confirm that this is the body of the high risk missing person Lee Johnston.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

“Our thoughts today are very much with Lee’s family and friends as they mourn his loss.”

Lee Johnston spotted in a supermarket in Cookstown

Lee, who was originally from Coleraine, went missing last Saturday in Maghera.

Earlier that day he had been seen in a shop in Cookstown.

Police launched a criminal investigation and subsequently arrested a man and a woman. They were later released on police bail pending further inquiries.
