The funeral for young Strabane father Conor Browne will be held this Monday, it has been confirmed.
Conor, aged 28, died on Monday following a stabbing incident outside of a pub in Castlederg last weekend.
Two men appeared in court this week charged with his murder.
Conor Browne, who had strong Donegal connections, is the youngest of five children.
A large crowd attended a vigil in Castlederg on Wednesday to send support to his family and friends.
Rev. Fr. Paul Fraser, the Parish Priest of Castlederg and Aghyaran, along with Rev. Peter Ferguson from Derg Parish Church of Ireland led the vigil service.
There was plenty of support and attendees from Donegal particularly from the nearby Crossroads, as Killygordon GAA club Red Hugh’s is managed by his cousin Eugene Browne, with Damien and Cathair Browne also cousins representing the senior team.
Brian Meehan, organiser of the vigil said: “We all came together as a united community to show our rejection of the actions which led to the death of this very popular young man an hope we never see the likes of this again in our town or parishes.
“Any loss of a young person’s life is hard to accept but the horrendous background that lead to Conor’s life being taken is what has shocked the people in our town young and old the most.
“Something that’s not associated with the town of Castlederg or surrounding areas.
“We hope the message got across that the people will not stand for this and it’s not welcome in our town or any other town.”
The Funeral Mass for Conor Browne will be held on Monday 11th September at 12 noon in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Drumnabey.
