Body of missing Gareth Morrin recovered from River Foyle on Monday

The funeral details have been announced for the much loved Gareth Morrin who sadly passed away earlier this week.

The body of Gareth was recovered on Monday, August 21, from the River Foyle.

The 35-year-old was reported missing last week.

Gareth was last been seen in Derry city centre on Thursday, August 17.

A family notice reads: “We regret to inform you that the death has taken place of Gareth Morrin, suddenly on 21st August 2023.

“May he rest in peace.

“Beloved son of Stella and the late Dozer.

“Loving brother of Ciara, Danielle, Glenn and Tammi.

“A much loved brother-in-law of Erin, Diarmuid, Damian and Nicole.

“Dearest uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of his wider family circle, friends and neighbours.

“Gareth’s remains will be reposing at his sister Ciara’s residence, 150 Galliagh Park.

“Funeral leaving from there on Thursday 24th August at 12:50pm for 1:30pm Requiem Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Galliagh.

“Burial will take place immediately afterwards in the City Cemetery.

“Wake house will be strictly private from 11pm till 10am.
