Detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team have given an update on its inquiries into the brutal murder of Chloe Mitchell.

Human remains were found a black wheelie bin in Ballymena on Sunday, June 11 a week after she was last seen in the Co Antrim town.

One man has been charged with her murder while a second has been remanded in custody accused of assisting an offender.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Millar said today: “The post mortem on human remains found in Ballymena on Sunday, June 11, has now concluded.

“The identification process is still ongoing.”

The family have asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.
