Former Mayor of Derry Graham Warke and People Before Profit’s Damian Gallagher have been eliminated in the Faughan DEA for Derry City and Strabane District Council.

Warke ran as an independent after quitting the DUP last year and polled just 279 votes and Gallagher received 310 first preference votes.

The quota for Faughan is 1,350 votes.

The UUP’s Ryan McCready was elected on the second count with 1,414 votes.

Meanwhile in the Waterside DEA, Caitlin Deeney of Sinn Fein and the UUP’s Darren Guy were elected at the first count.

Deeney topped the poll with 1,949 first preference votes – almost six hundred above the quota.
