PBP Faughan representative Damian Gallagher

People Before Profit representative Damian Gallagher has called on the Department of Infrastructure to make progress in installing at Caw roundabout and the Gransha junction without further delay.

Said the Faughan representative: “The construction of 700 new homes at the Ballyoan / Gransha development is now
well under way.

“These new homes are welcomed and will make a positive impact on the extensive housing list, providing homes and security for hundreds of families.

“It also means that the promised traffic lights at Caw Roundabout are installed, alongside a traffic lighted junction at Gransha.

“Caw Roundabout is a major focal point of Derry, providing motorists with access routes to the rural communities of Faughan, the Foyle Bridge, Crescent Link, Limavady Road and the City of Derry Airport.

“It is also one of the most dangerous roundabouts in the Northwest &Faughan area.

“Many residents of Faughan are expressing concern at the lack of progress in relation to the much-needed roads infrastructure provision that is required alongside this needed housing development.

“The onus is now firmly on the Department of Infrastructure and the housing developers to progress the traffic light signalling of Caw Roundabout and a new traffic lighted junction at Gransha without further delay.

“I have written to the DFI permanent secretary seeking an urgent update on this.”
