Woman arrested in Derry over dissident bomb device

Detectives investigating a report of an attempted hijacking in the Hollymount Park area of Derry at approximately 9.35pm on Friday February 17th and the subsequent discovery of a suspicious device in the Corrody Road area on Saturday February 18th have arrested a 39 year old female,

A search of a property in the Derry area is ongoing at this time.

She has been arrested under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

She remains in police custody assisting with enquiries.

Dissident republican group Arm na Poblachta later claimed responsibility for planting the device near playing fields.
