Plans unveiled for Derry’s St Patrick’s Day Carnival Parade

Derry city is set to celebrate the arrival of Spring with a magical programme of music, dance & food this Saint Patrick’s Day, Friday, March 17.

Highlights:

🌻 Traditional Irish Music | Guildhall Sq | 1pm – 6pm

🌻 Magical Land of the Fairies | Peace Garden | 1pm – 6pm

🌻 The Spring Fling ( Music & Animation)| Craft Village | 1pm – 6pm

🌻 St Patrick’s Day Spring Carnival Parade | 3pm – 4pm

🌻 Live Music | The Guildhall | 1pm – 5pm

🌻 Food Stalls Guildhall Sq |17th & 18th

🌻 Mayor’s 24-hour Buskathon | Guildhall Square | 6pm 17th March – 6pm 18th March

Traditional Irish Music | Guildhall Square | 1pm – 6pm

Derry is renowned for its music so come along and soak up some of the best local traditional Irish musicians to play in Waterloo Place alongside traditional Irish dancers.

Sample some of our homegrown Irish foods whilst enjoying the music.

Magical Land of the Fairies & Little People | Peace Garden | 1pm – 6pm

The Peace Garden will be transformed into the colourful land of the Little People where children can Make a Wish on the Fairy Tree and dance until their feet are sore!

Enjoy a pageant dance and drama performance of A Tale of Fairies and Mystical Irish Little Folk, paying homage to their Ancient Magical King Brian who can grant them magic wishes if he so desires. Children and adults alike will be immersed in enchantment.

The Spring Fling | Craft Village | 1pm – 6pm

Shake off those winter blues and step into Spring with ‘The Spring Fling’ – a mini-Carnival of Colours with a host of awesome local musicians, incredible Circus & Street Theatre shows and interactive performers, making sure the craic is 90!

The Spring Fling will celebrate renewal and stepping into the warmth of Spring, encouraging audiences to get outdoors again, to breathe in life and to feel revitalized in this fun, energetic installation.

St Patrick’s Day Spring Carnival Parade | City Centre | 3pm – 4pm

North West Carnival Initiative presents St Patrick’s Day Spring Carnival Parade ‘Recycle & Renewal’.

Famed for their fantastical and flamboyant carnival parades, the NWCI has stepped into Spring for this year’s Carnival parade with 600 participants weaving their way through the city’s streets in a cacophony of colour!

Mayor’s 24-hour Buskathon | Guildhall Square | 17th March 6pm – 18th March 6pm

Local performers will take to the mike on the Guildhall steps over St Patrick’s weekend as part of a special 24-hour buskathon to raise awareness and funds for homelessness.

The buskathon takes place from 6pm on St Patrick’s Day to 6pm on Saturday 18th March in collaboration with The Nerve Centre.

Please support and donate to the Mayor’s charity – First Housing Aid and Support Services.
