Council update on services affected by weather conditions

Council cemeteries closed to public except for burials

Derry City and Strabane District Council has given update on its public services which have been affected by the snow and ice.

The council say in a statement: “Despite the ongoing inclement weather conditions Derry City and Strabane District Council is continuing to provide its services with minimal disruption.

“The public are advised that similar to yesterday Bin Collection Services are operating with some minor localised disruption.

“Householders are encouraged to put their bins out for collection as normal and our crews will endeavour to collect them when it is safe to do so..

“Council cemeteries will remain closed to the public.

“They will be open to facilitate burials which will go ahead as normal.

All Council recycling centres and parks will be open when it is safe to do so with the exception of Park which is closed for the remainder of the day and Plumbridge which is currently closed but attendants are working to have it open as soon as they can.

“The public are asked to be patient and to co-operate fully with staff.

“All pitches remain closed today in the Council area, this will be reviewed tomorrow

“Further updates will be provided when they become available,” the statement concluded.
