Staff at Strahan’s Road and Skeoge enjoyed a hearty breakfast this week as a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.

In recognition of their dedication to delivering vital services throughout 2022, Council provided a catering van for staff from various departments to enjoy bacon baps and cups of tea.

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Sandra Duffy, joined staff from refuse collection, street cleansing, grounds maintenance, cemeteries, Park Rangers, Property and Fleet Maintenance and waste management teams in both Derry and Strabane to personally thank staff for their ongoing commitment to providing essential council services.

“I was delighted to join our hard working staff in Skeoge and Strahan’s Road for a lovely breakfast and to personally say thank you for all their work throughout the year.

“After a very difficult few years, these men and women continue to show up daily and provide our residents and businesses across the city and district with fantastic and incredibly efficient service.

“They are an integral part of our council services and we would not be able to continue our work without them.

“This breakfast might be a small gesture, but it gives us the opportunity to reflect on their essential roles, and to realise the importance of the work they do.”

Those services will continue throughout the festive period.
