Funeral on Sunday for tragic hit-and-run victim Catriona Josephine Johnston

Catriona Josephine Johnston who tragically died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Co Derry

A Derry woman who tragically died following a hit-and-run collision outside Coleraine will be buried on Sunday.

Catriona Josephine Johnston, who was 35 and was much loved by her family and friends, was a pedestrian and died at the scene of a collision on the Dunhill Road, between Coleraine and Limavady, on Tuesday evening, December 6.

The driver of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene and detectives have appealed for the public’s help in trying to trace the vehicle.

A family notice reads: “6th December 2022, beloved daughter of Pauline and Gregory, 94 Altcar Park, loving sister of Pauline, Jennifer, Claire and Dylan and much loved auntie of Eimear, Conor, Jamie, Oisin, Ella and Eabha.

“Funeral from her home on Sunday at 9.15 am for 9.45 am funeral Mass in St Joseph’s Church, Galliagh.

“Interment afterwards in the City cemetery.

“Family time please from 9 pm to 11 am.

“Family flowers only please.

“Donations in lieu of flowers, if wished, to the Foyle Hospice, 61 Culmore Road, Derry, BT48 8JE.”

“Queen of the Most Holy Rosary pray for her.”
