March For Mammies will be holding a rally in Derry this Saturday, October 29, to call for better resources for mothers and their familes.

The public are urged to turn up at the Peace Garden at 12 noon before marching to Ebrington.

In a statement, the group said: “Join mammies and grannies on Saturday, 29 October in raising our voices for better services, resources, rights and pay for mammies and their families.

“The weight of the cost of living crisis disproportionately weighs on the shoulders of mammies, who are struggling to heat homes and feed children. We need a government that prioritises our families!

“We desperately need free and accessible childcare.

“An increase to maternity pay and family leave. Sick pay and carers leave for all workers – both employed and self-employed.

“Higher wages and more flexible working hours for those with caring responsibilities.

“Ending the gender pay gap.

“Accessible and informed reproductive and sexual healthcare. And so much more!

“Our treatment from this government has been ghoulish.

“Enough is enough!

“All are welcome!

“Bring wains, friends, family! Fancy dress encouraged.”
