Police in Derry are appealing for help in identifying a vehicle that was involved in an incident in the Waterside area of the city recently during which an officer was injured.

At 8.45 am on Saturday, August 27, a grey BMW 3 Series failed to stop for police on Spencer Road and made off in the direction of Simpsons Brae.

The vehicle was then driven on to Duke Street, across Craigavon Bridge and on to Abercorn Road.

A police officer was hit by the car and sustained a minor injury to his leg.

Sergeant Campbell said: “At the time of the incident, the car may have been missing a front registration plate and had damage to its front windscreen.

“We’ve made a number of enquiries following this incident, however, at this stage we have not located the vehicle or identified the driver.

“If you were in the area at the time and have a dash cam, we would ask you check your footage in case you captured what happened.

“If you have information about where this vehicle is, or if you know who was driving the vehicle, we would ask that you call us.”

The number to call with information is 101, quoting reference number 487 of 27/08/22.
