Six men arrested under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act as part of the ongoing investigation following a parade in Derry on Easter Monday, April 18, have been released pending report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The PSNI say the investigation will continue over the coming days and weeks to “bring offenders to justice”.

A police spokesperson said: “Officers would ask anyone with information about the incident or who may be able to help with the investigation to call police on the non-emergency number 101.

“Or you can submit a report online using the non-emergency reporting form via: http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/

“You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at: http://crimestoppers-uk.org/

In total, seven men arrested under the Terrorism Act have now been released pending reports to the Public Prosecution Service.

A 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of disorderly behaviour and resisting police has been charged to appear at Derry Magistrates’ Court on May 11.

Police came under attack by youths throwing missiles and petrol bombs on Easter Monday from inside the City Cemetery as they tried to make arrests of those masked men and women who were taking part in the notified Saoradh parade.

There had been a determination by the Parades Commission that those taking part should not wear paramilitary style dressing.

This came after a complaint from the family of murdered journalist Lyra McKee as the parade coincided with the third anniversary of her killing by the New IRA, Saoradh’s military wing.

Ms McKee was shot dead by a teenage gunman as she observed orchestrated rioting in Creggan’s Fanad Drive on Thursday, April 18, 2019.
