POLICE in Co Derry are warning drivers about falling trees and other debris on roads across Co Derry.

Storm Franklin has swept in from the west bringing in gusty winds.

Multiple trees are currently down blocking the Magherafelt Road, Moneymore – the mainline between Moneymore and Magherafelt and police say the road is likely to remain blocked until mid morning.

In a Facebook post, the Police Mid Ulster say: “Trees are falling like dominoes across Mid Ulster at present.

“Many roads are blocked, as quick as one is cleared another comes down.

“There is going to be significant traffic disruption come rush hour especially in the Greater Magherafelt area.

“Main roads blocked as of 05.10 hrs are:

“Magherafelt Road, Moneymore – mainline between Moneymore and Magherafelt – multiple trees down, likely to be blocked until mid morning.

“Moneymore Road heading into Magherafelt

“Tobermore Road

“Moneygran Road, Kilrea

“A number of roads around Augher

“Ballygawley Road / Woodlough Road (near Quinns pub)

“Earlier blockages at Carland on the A29, Doon Road, near Straw and roads around Coalisland have now been cleared.”
