Christmas message from McLaughlin to Derry constituents

SDLP Foyle MLA Sinead McLaughlin

SDLP Foyle MLA Sinead McLaughlin has wished her constituents a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Ms McLaughlin said: “I want to take this opportunity to wish all my Foyle constituents a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

“This is a difficult season for many people and it is important that we remember to look out for our neighbours and friends, while keeping ourselves safe during the ongoing Covid pandemic.

“I particularly want to thank our health workers, who have put themselves at risk while protecting us.

“They have done a marvellous job over the last nearly two years of the pandemic and now they are working at breakneck speed to undertake the booster vaccine roll-out.

“As we move into the new year, I pledge that I will not let up in my work for my constituents.

“My focus remains firmly on creating more well paid jobs, demanding equality and acting to protect the environment, including through combatting climate change.

“In this season, especially, I will carry on demanding that the Executive takes action to provide support to those on low incomes and benefits as they struggle to meet the rising energy and food costs.”

McLaughlin was recently appointed as the chair of the Assembly’s Committee for the Executive Office.
