POLICE in Derry say they are continuing to target those involved in the sale of drugs in the city.

But they say they are concerned at the level of prescription drugs it is detecting in

In a posting on its Facebook page, Police Derry City and Strabane say: “Over the last 24 hours officers have made a number of drug detections across the city.

“Of concern is the number of people found to be in possession of prescription medication that is clearly not approved for them by a medical professional.

“If you think you might have a problem with alcohol and/ or drugs and would like to get help please visit www.drugsandalcoholni.info for information on support services near you.

“There are also services available on this website if you are affected by someone else’s drinking and/or drug misuse.

“These services are available to you regardless of whether or not your loved one is receiving help for his or her alcohol and/ or drug problem.

If you have information about who is supplying drugs in our communities then let us know.

“These criminals prey on the vulnerable and exploit addiction for their own financial gain.

“Contact us on 101 or speak to a member of your local Neighbourhood Team directly.”
