Altnagelvin Hospital’s emergency department

THE Western Trust say the emergency department at Altnagelvin Hospital is today “extremely busy”.

It reports that 88 people are waiting in the ED with a further 40 waiting to be admitted to hospital.

A Trust spokesperson said: “Please only come to ED if you have a medical or mental health emergency.

“If your condition is not critical you may have to wait longer than we would like.

“Please find suitable alternative healthcare options available to you, such as your GP, Pharmacist or Urgent Care and Treatment Centre at our Omagh Hospital.

“If you are attending the ED, please observe all the COVID-19 measures in place.

“Phone First is in operation in our Emergency Departments and Urgent Care and Treatment Centre.
