Logue: Speed assessment of vehicles on Lonemoor Road

Sinn Fein councillor Patricia Logue

SINN Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has welcomed news from the Department for Infrastructure that they are to undertake a speed assessment of vehicles travelling along the Lonemoor Road.

It comes after she raised residents’ concerns about the speed of traffic on the road

Said Cllr Logue: “I welcome confirmation I have received from the Department for Infrastructure that they are to undertake a speed assessment of vehicles travelling along the Lonemoor Road.

“It is very apparent that most vehicles travelling along this road are doing so more than the 30mph speed limit.

“Residents who have raised this issue with me have said at night times the speed of the cars travelling along this road is frightening with some travelling at 60-70mph and resembling a racetrack.

“A number of measures have taken place along the road with the installation of traffic islands and a pedestrian crossing at the top of Stanley’s Walk, and measures outside the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium, but motorists are still driving far too fast.

“I hope the results of the survey will be used to provide additional road safety measures in the area.”
