SDLP Foyle MLA Sinead McLaughn

THE SDLP’s Sinead McLaughlin has expressed regret that an objection has blocked progress to traffic calming on the Lone Moor Road, close to Brandywell stadium.

A child was killed on Lone Moor Road in 2016.

Said the Foyle MLA: “Residents in the area have raised with me their desire for quick progress in installing traffic calming measures on Lone Moor Road, close to the Brandywell Stadium.

“This is a very dangerous stretch of road in which a child has been killed and where there is limited visibility because of intensive car parking.

“Unfortunately, not all drivers treat this stretch of road with the caution that is needed.

“I have lobbied the Department for Infrastructure in support of road calming.

“It has advised me that while it wishes to make progress by installing traffic calming, it is prevented from doing so at present because an objection has been lodged.

“I hope that this objection will be rejected and traffic calming progressed as soon as possible.”
