Derry rally to be held over city detox centre

Tamzin White’s mother, Louise, tradically died on January 16 at the age of 40 with alcohol addiction

A RALLY will be held in Derry next week as campaigners step UP their bid to have a detox centre set up in the city.

The rally will take place at Guildhall Square at 2pm on Saturday, August 21.

Among the speakers will be local teenager Tamzin White who has been spearheading the campaign since the death of her mother mother Louise earlier this year.

Tamzin’s mother and other members of her family suffered from addiction.

Among the other speakers at the rally will be Mayor of Derry and Strabane Council, Alderman Graham Warke and local politicians Karen Mullan and Emmet Doyle.

Mayor Warke tweeted: “Looking forward to speaking at this event next weekend in support of the campaign for a detox centre in the city

“If you are attending please wear a face covering and maintain social distancing.”
