Driving lessons and tests could resume next week

SINN Féin’s Martina Anderson has written to the Minister for Infrastructure over the backlog of driving test appointments in Derry.

Said the Foyle MLA: “I have received numerous concerns from constituents about the ongoing difficulties they have faced trying to get a driving test.

“This has been a very frustrating time for learner drivers, who continue to face a large backlog of tests and a lack of available appointments.

“While drivers are encouraged to keep checking the site for new available slots, more needs to be done to provide people with better access to such a necessary service as a driving test.

“Not getting a driving test can be very restricting for people, and can limit some people’s employment opportunities and independence.

“I have written to the Minister for Infrastructure calling for greater provision of driving tests in order for this backlog to be addressed as soon as possible.”
