Derry teen in hospital with head injuries after assault

POLICE say that a teenager has been taken to hospital after being found with head injuries in the Clon Elagh area of Derry.

Officers were called to the estate in the Skeoge area of the city in the early hours of this morning and arrested a 15-year-old boy.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “A 15 year old male has been arrested following an incident which occurred at the Clon Elagh area of Derry in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 28th July).

“Shortly after midnight, it was reported that two males were causing damage to the front door of a property in the area.

“Upon arrival of police, it was reported that a 14 year old male was believed to have been assaulted and received injuries to his head. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

“A short time later, a 15 year old male was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

“He remains in police custody at this time.

“Enquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone with any information to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 9 28/07/21.
