THE Department of Health has announced a further 198 Coronavirus cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.
That’s a rise of ten on figures given yesterday for Tuesday and the highest number in three months.
There has been no further deaths from the virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, now at 2,155.
In the past week, the Department has recorded 1,178 new cases of Coronavirus.
There has been a further 36 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, that is a fall of 17 on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.
Over the past seven days there have been a further 272 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.
This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 13,339 positive cases within the council boundary – the third highest among all 11 councils in the North.
The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane Council area has fallen slightly to 179.8 cases per 100,000, the highest of any council in the North of Ireland.
The Department has recorded a total of 136 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.
Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 100 per cent.
There are currently 18 patients in hospital with Coronavirus, a rise of one on the previous 24 hours.
There are no patients being treated in intensive care.
Three care homes are still dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak with a further 659 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
