A TREE of Remembrance has been planted in Derry in memory of those from the city who lost their lives to Covid-19.

Councillor Brian Tierney planted the tree at Culmore Country Park in one of his last duties as of Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council.

Cllr Tierney’s term as Mayor will end tomorrow Tuesday, June 8, when he will be replaced by DUP Alderman Graham Warke who has been his deputy mayor this past year.

Mayor Tierney tweeted: “Proud to be in my own DEA of Ballyarnett to perform a tree planting in Culmore Country Park in memory of all those who have lost their lives during the #Covid19 pandemic.”
