NW Greenway Network offer free bike checks in Derry

A series of free bike check-ups have been organised by the North West Greenway Network to help promote cycling in the region.

Beginning in Muff and Buncrana on Sunday, May 30, the bandwagon rolls in to Lifford and Strabane on Monday, May 31, finishing in Derry on Saturday, June 5.

There will be a free bike check at Ebrington Square from 10 30 am.

Rónán Gallagher, Communications Officer for the project, said: “With an increase in bike sales over the last two years and the subsequent shortage of bikes because of manufacturing issues related to covid-19, people are now more interested in sustainable living, including active travel.

“We hope that these events will help encourage people to dust down their old bicycles and realise that looking after a bicycle is less painful that running a car.

“With our EU-funded infrastructure coming online over the coming months, these events go a small way to encourage people to cycle again! Rónán Gallagher, Communications Manager, North West Greenway Network.

As numbers are limited due to Covid-19 restrictions, booking is essential: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/dr-bike-muff-registration-156507160129.
