No further deaths, 75 new cases in North

THE Department of Health has announced a further 75 Coronavirus cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.

That’s a fall of nine on figures given yesterday for Wednesday.

There has been no further deaths from the virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, remaining at 2,152.

In the past week, the Department has recorded 525 new cases of Coronavirus.

There has been a further 19 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, a rise of six on figures given yesterday for Wednesday.

Over the past seven days there have been a further 97 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.

This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 12,725 positive cases within the council boundary – the fourth highest among all 11 councils in the North.

The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane council area is now at 64.4 cases per 100,000, but still the highest in the North of Ireland.

The Department has recorded a total of 136 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.

Bed occupancy across all hospitals remains at 102 per cent.

There are currently 28 patients in hospital with Coronavirus.

Two patients are being treated in intensive care with no patients on ventilators.

Four care homes are now dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak with a further 655 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
