No more deaths, 84 new cases in North

THE Department of Health has announced a further 84 Coronavirus cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.

That’s a rise of 18 on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.

There has been no further deaths from the virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, remaining at 2,152.

In the past week, the Department has recorded 525 new cases of Coronavirus.

There has been a further 13 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, the same number given yesterday for Tuesday.

Over the past seven days there have been a further 94 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.

This means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 12,706 positive cases within the council boundary – the fourth highest among all 11 councils in the North.

The rate of infection within the Derry and Strabane council area is now down to 62.4 cases per 100,000, but still the highest in the North of Ireland.

The Department has recorded a total of 136 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all councils here.

Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 102 per cent.

There are currently 27 patients in hospital with Coronavirus.

Two patients are being treated in intensive care with one patient on a ventilator.

Four care homes are now dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak with a further 655 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
