THE SDLP’s Sinead McLaughlin has welcomed progress on replacing EV charging points across Derry.

Said the Foyle MLA: “I very much welcome the commitment by ESB to replace broken electric vehicle charging points in Derry.

“I have had numerous complaints in recent months about EV charging points that are no longer working.

“I have been actively engaged in discussing the situation with ESB and others, seeking a solution.

“I am pleased that ESB has now agreed that all EV charging points in Derry that are no longer working will be replaced over the summer months.

“It is essential that we have the electric vehicle infrastructure needed to support the increased use of electric cars.

“My party colleague, Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon, has made this a priority.

“I thank ESB for responding to my calls for improved provision in Derry.

“Drivers in and around the city have been frustrated that some of the EV charging points have been out of action for a while,” she added.
