Actress and singer Bronagh Gallagher

THE debut television performance of a new hit from Derry actress Bronagh Gallagher and The Cranberries musician Noel Hogan will be aired live on RTÉ tonight.

The track, Crybaby, was compiled virtually by the two stars through song-writing sessions over phone calls and messages during lockdown last year.

They are set to perform on the Late Late Show, which tonight will also mark the 80th birthday of President Michael D Higgins.

Billed as “a very special interview”, presenter Ryan Turbidy will join the president at Áras an Uachtaráin to discuss his hopes for the Republic’s future.

President Higgins turns 80 on Sunday.

Academy award-winning actress and star of Misery, Kathy Bates, will also due to appear on the RTÉ One programme to tell how she is trying to perfect a Ballyfermot accent for her latest role.

Ireland rugby captain Johnny Sexton will also be chatting about his chances of making the Lions team and the return of Simon Zebo to Munster, while singer Imelda May is due to give an exclusive performance of Don’t Let Me Stand on My Own, with Niall McNamee, from her new album 11 Past the Hour.

The Late Late Show is on RTÉ One at 9.35pm.
