One more death, 107 new cases in North

THE Department of Health has reported a further 107 more cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.

That’s the same number of cases given yesterday for Wednesday.

There has one further death from the deadly virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, now at 2,116.

In the past week, the Department has recorded 846 new cases of Coronavirus.

There has been a further nine positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council in the past 24 hour, a fall of three for the previous day.

Within the past week there have been a further 86 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.

That means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 11,586 positive cases within the council boundary – the fourth highest among all 11 councils in the North.

The Department has recorded a total of 135 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all 11 councils here.

Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 98 per cent.

There are currently 112 patients in hospital with Coronavirus, with 17 patients currently in intensive care and nine patients who are on ventilators.

A total of six care homes are dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak, a rise of one on Wednesday, with a further 643 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
