Sinn Fein Foyle MLA Karen Mullan

SINN Féin’s Karen Mullan has welcomed moves towards installing lighting in the Bay Road Park and along the Foyle Road walkway.

She was speaking after meeting with Derry City and Strabane District Council over the issue.

Said the Foyle MLA: “I met with Council to discuss lighting up the paths at Bay Road Park and along the riverside walkway at Foyle Road.

“These pathways have been increasingly popular during the ongoing pandemic with many more people making use of them.

“I was delighted to hear that the Council is preparing funding applications for installing lights in both locations in order to increase the usage of these greenways.

“I also raised this issue with the Infrastructure Minister on the need to work alongside councils to improve street lighting.

“I will continue to work with council and government departments to see these street lighting projects move forward.”
