No further deaths, 183 new cases in North

THE Department of Health has reported a further 183 more cases in the North of Ireland in the last 24 hours.

That’s a rise of 44 cases on figures given yesterday for Tuesday.

There have been no further deaths for the second day in a row from the deadly virus with the death toll, mostly in hospitals across the North, remaining at 2,107.

In the past week, the Department has recorded 1,054 new cases of Coronavirus.

There has been a further 19 positive cases in the Derry City and Strabane District Council in the past 24 hours, a rise of five on the previous day.

Within the past week there have been a further 133 COVID-19 cases in the Derry and Strabane area.

That means that since the pandemic started in March there have now been 11,490 positive cases within the council boundary – the fourth highest among all 11 councils in the North.

The Department has now recorded a total of 135 coronavirus deaths within the Derry and Strabane council area to date – the third lowest out of all 11 councils here.

Bed occupancy across all hospitals is now at 100 per cent.

There are currently 153 patients in hospital with Coronavirus, with 14 patients currently in intensive care and 10 patients who are on ventilators.

A total of six care homes are dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak with a further 640 concluded Coronavirus outbreaks in care homes.
