Police confirmed on Sunday that a woman in her 50s tragically died at the scene of the fire.
Said the Foyle MLA: “People are in shock following the death of a woman in a tragic house fire on Rossdowney Road on Sunday morning.
“I want to offer my sincere condolences to the lady’s family and friends at an incredibly difficult time.
“I have spoken to neighbours who are shocked and deeply saddened.
“I also want to pay tribute to the emergency responders who attended the incident this morning for their bravery and professionalism.”
