Sinn Fein councillor Patricia Logue

SINN Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has appealed to young people living in the Killea and the Nixon’s Corner area to take part in a survey to find out the needs of young people in the area.

Kinship Care NI in partnership with Derry City & Strabane District Council and Donegal County Council are planning on developing services for young people living in the Nixon’s Corner’s/Killea and Strabane/Lifford areas.

Said Councillor Logue said: “I would encourage all young people living in these areas to take part.

“More than often young people living in rural communities feel left out from or cut off from a range of services and facilities available to young people a few miles down the road.

“The problem of isolation experienced by young people in rural Ireland can lead to depression and other, more serious problems.

“Teenagers, in particular, need a place where they can be teenagers, a safe environment to socialise in.

“We need action and measures to support as many young people as possible to live and thrive in our rural communities and villages.”
